Irish Cream Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 C all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 C sugar

  • 2 t baking powder

  • 1/2 t salt

  • 1/3 C shortening

  • 1/2 C milk

  • 1 t vanilla

  • 1 egg

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease and flour a 9" round cake pan.

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, shortening, and milk. Beat for 2 minutes until well combined.

  3. Add vanilla and egg, then beat for an additional 2 minutes until the batter is creamy and smooth.

  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  5. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.


Cream Frosting:

Ingredients:

  • 1 C heavy whipping cream

  • 1/2 t vanilla

  • 1/4 C powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  2. Add vanilla and powdered sugar, then continue beating until well combined.

  3. Cut the cooled cake in half horizontally. Spread half of the whipped cream on the bottom layer, then top with the second layer and cover the entire cake with the remaining whipped cream.


Tips for the Perfect Irish Cream Cake:
